Günther Schmedding



Günther Schmedding is an independent entrepreneur and senior executive with over 25 years of experience in the IT and high tech industry with a focus on sales and marketing. He has hands-on experience in shaping companies in their early growth stage (founded RealNetworks GmbH as GM) and managing rapid or “burst” growth. Furthermore, he led dedicated teams in large organizations such as Oracle Deutschland GmbH (Germany & European Branch Manager). For more than 10 years, he has successfully advised clients of his own consulting firm.

After graduating in business administration at the Wirtschaftsakademie in Hamburg in 1985, he joined Nixdorf Computer AG (as Key Account Team Manager responsible for Fortune 500 industrial companies). In 1989, he continued his sales career at Oracle Germany as a senior sales manager, successfully building the customer base of Oracle in Northern Germany. As from 1996, he focused on building a pipeline of strategic deals for Oracles Inc. new Interactive TV Suite, and managed sales for Telco/new media branch in Central Europe.

In 1998, he took over responsibility as GM for the establishment and expansion of RealNetworks GmbH operations in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Middle East. He was seen as a solid contributor to RN Inc. in top line revenues and bottom line profitability. He created and established a high-quality key account portfolio, and at the same time took advantage of the low- and mid-size market and an intensive e-commerce presence.

After leaving RealNetworks in 2001, Günther Schmedding founded 3connected GmbH. He ran various board-level interim consulting assignments and assisted various high-tech companies in turn-around and growth management (strategy and implementation) and M&A activities. Günther Schmedding’s key skills include rapid business analysis and in-depth planning, feeling out and closing deals at an early stage, organizational skills (team building, motivation, structure and processes). However, above all, he is still passionate about marketing and sales. Günther Schmedding brings a sizable network of high-end business contacts within the European Region.
